Lora Dimitrova - Groups

Lora is an extremely versatile musician and as well as the serious side of classical music, she has a love of popular music and jazz (she founded the jazz department for London's Bromley Youth Music Trust and plays each year at the Original UK Jazz Summer School in Cardiff, Wales).

Below are some of the groups she has been involved with over the last 20 years.

Approximately 20 years ago, Lora created the unique group known as "Quattro Piano+", consisting of 4 pianists (performing at 4 separate pianos) plus a percussionist. It is still going strong today.

They perform arrangements of popular music from the classical repertoire as well as from films and musicals. The group write their own arrangements (the majority being by Lora) and incorporate a variety of different rhythms and melodies into each piece.

The group has toured extensively in Europe, most recently in autumn 2023 in Bulgaria with backing provided by the Vidin Philharmonic Orchestra. The group has released 2 CDs.

The combination of instruments introduces unique logistical and accoustic challenges for recordings and staged performances.

Crisium

Prog Rock band Crisium. The group has put on several different shows in multiple venues around the South of England but has not performed since COVID brought a halt to operations.

Crisium is the result of Lora getting together with an expert music synthesiser fanatic and composer, David Goodman, throwing in a couple of guitars and a drummer and then staging sound and light shows which present David's Original musical compositions (such as "Letters") and arrangements of popular music such as Bach's Toccata in D minor, Holst's "Planet" suite and the theme music from the Dr Who TV show.

Salora

The singer Sarah Skinner and Lora formed a jazz group "Salora" with Geoff le Prevost on Bass and Tony Scullion on Drums. They have performed at local venues around the South of England. Lora, Geoff and Tony also formed a function band called "8 Steps Up" with Alby Stevens on lead guitar and Jane and Claire Price on vocals.
